As a volunteer public defender through the San Diego County Public Defenders Office, Krista counseled indigent veteran clients regarding any unresolved issues with the San Diego County legal system and represented them before the judge in a special Veterans session of Homeless Court.
University of San Diego School of Law – Civil Practicum (Spring 2005)
While enrolled in this difficult and demanding practicum course, Krista interviewed clients and witnesses, calendared and carried out settlement meetings with opposing counsel, prepared, served, and answered written discovery, pleadings, and motions, conducted depositions, mediation, and arbitration, presented motion arguments before a judge, prepared for and put on a full jury trial, including examination of witnesses, opening and closing statements, use of exhibits, and use of evidence objections for simulated cases in family law, torts, employment law, commercial contract law, and estate planning.
